The Y Service 1939-1945
Hugh Sherdley, following his inital training, as posted to the Royal Corps of Signals and trained in West Yorksire as a radio operator. After a "hush-hush" interview, he was chosen to go to the Isle of Man for training as a Special Operator. Via Harpenden (see link from "locations" page) he found himself on a troop ship to India! Further training at Abbotabad (See Dennis Underwood's page) was followed by a move into Burma with 5A SWS. Hugh passed VE day in Rangoon, going later to Singapore. We're most grateful to his son Peter who passed on these photographs. Click on a picture to see a bigger one in a new window, as usual.
